Biometric employee punch clocks are making their way into most of the workforce. They have been seen to speed up payroll and cut down on paperwork. They are also known to cut out time theft, “buddy punching” and paycheck disputes. Biometric employee punch clocks are not without their drawbacks and one of the big drawbacks is cost. While it is true that some companies sell these clocks for just a few hundred dollars, the chances are high that these cheap clocks have quite a few glitches in their technology. Most of the time a quality time clock will be quite costly. Some of these time clocks range in the thousands of dollars. Then when you figure in the amount of time that it will cost the employer to set up the system and get every employee’s data into the memory, the cost can be quite dramatic. It is for this reason that many employers today are sticking with their old time clock system.
