When buying a brand new baby turtle as a pet, there are many things to learn about when dealing with the proper care for it. Other animals require constant maintenance, but with the right balance of care and maintenance, pet turtle care can be very simple. When caring for a new turtle, there are many things that need to be remembered in order to maximize its lifespan and happiness. Turtles need the right amount and kind of waters, light and food and the only possible way to learn about them all is through asking your veterinarian and the location or means through which you bought the turtle initially. Some turtles like to live with others, too — so perhaps buying more than one at a time to keep in the tank is a good way to make sure your turtle is happy, to make sure it has some other turtle companions to swim around with and bask in the heat lamp.
