Getting Access and Permission to Build Aside a Property Boundary
The Party Wall Act of 1996 was enacted to protect you and your neighboring properties from unwelcome disputes and for safety reasons. When a Party Wall Surveyor is appointed they will handle decisions like who pays, how much will be paid, who has access and how much access will be issued to the parties. General construction of structures requires a two month prior notice to keep things running smoothly and a one month notice for a fence wall. In certain circumstances, digging for any reason requires the same actions if the excavation is to be within 6 metres of a neighboring property.
