I like to keep what I call a “rainy day fund”, an account where I  put some money each month and when it reaches a few thousand dollars, I find something to splurge on without breaking my monthly budget. I once saved for almost a year and bought a laptop computer, and I think my next splurge will involve some designer shoes and a matching purse. I recently found a website that offered car insurance instant quotes and it occurred to me that the extra money I could save would hasten my shoe and purse shopping trip. I got a super fast quote and sure enough, now I have more money for that rainy day!
