Basics of Chevrolet Dual Mode Hybrid Cars
The Chevrolet hybrid cars use new generation two-mode hybrid technology. The core of dual-mode hybrid system is a two-mode transmission that keeps the Vortec engine running at optimum rpm to minimize fuel consumption.
For large SUVs like Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrids a 6.0L V8 is tuned up with Cylinder Deactivation Technology. The technology helps in automatically shutting down four of V8’s eight cylinders when power demand is low. The two-mode hybrid also enables the vehicle cruising around on electric power only.
Chevrolet hybrid cars can run on fuel or electric mode alone. For optimized performance on the highway Chevy hybrid cars can use the electric motors along with the V8.
